SUMMARY

The Inbound and Outbound Logistics Supervisor at Covetrus, an online pet pharmacy dispensing on behalf of veterinarians, holds a critical role in overseeing the seamless movement of raw materials and finished products within our operations. Reporting to the Director of Operations in Omaha, Nebraska, this position involves strategic management of the logistics team responsible for receiving, inventory management, and shipping. The incumbent will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, ensuring timely deliveries, and upholding the highest standards of quality and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and execute strategic logistics plans to optimize the flow of raw materials and finished products, from receipt to distribution.
  • Direct and lead a team responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
  • Manage team to properly handle compounding waste including any hazardous materials. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align logistics strategies with production, quality assurance, and customer service goals.
  • Implement best practices for inventory accuracy, including cycle counting, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and safety protocols in all logistics operations.
  • Monitor transportation costs and seek opportunities to enhance cost-efficiency without compromising service quality.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify trends, operational bottlenecks, and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics partners.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role entails direct supervision and leadership of the logistics team, including training, performance management, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Ensures team compliance with all local, state and federal regulations including FDA, DEA, OSHA, DOT, and DOL.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a people leadership capacity.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is advantageous.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Relevant certifications in logistics or supply chain management are desirable.
  • Powered Industrial Trucks Training RCRA Hazardous Waste DOT Training

COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  • Strong understanding of logistics processes, inventory management, and supply chain optimization.
  • Proficiency in using logistics management software and systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a track record of implementing process improvements.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to interpret and present logistics data.
